Description
Clayton Street is a street in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. It runs parallel to Ashbury Street, one block to the west. Clayton Street begins at Market Street in the south and proceeds northward to the Panhandle of Golden Gate Park, where it tees out at Oak Street. On the other side of the Panhandle, it picks up again for three more blocks before terminating again at Fulton Street, at the University of San Francisco. Clayton Street is named after Charles Clayton, who represented San Francisco in the State Assembly from 1863 to 1867 and in Congress from 1873 to 1875.
Celebrate a legendary San Francisco landmark with your own Clayton Street sign, expertly recreated in two classic styles that capture different eras of the city’s streetscape. We also offer the 1965 specification, still often seen on the city’s streets, featuring the modern highway-sign fonts. Both versions display the 600 block designation, marking the intersection with Haight Street.
