Description

The Texas Hill Country Trail is one of ten scenic routes in the Texas Heritage Trails program. In 1968, Texas Governor John Connally and the Texas Highway Department set up these trails to promote tourism in the state. Each of the trails formed a scenic loop overlaid upon various state highways in different parts of Texas. In 1998, the Texas Historical Commission expanded the scope of the Texas Heritage Trails program. The state was divided up into ten regions, each centered around each of the trails. The goal is to increase the number of visitors to historic and cultural sites in each region (and thus get tourism money flowing to the smaller towns in each region).

The Texas Hill Country Trail is in the central part of the state. The route loops around the region just to the west of San Antonio and Austin. The trail’s route is marked with distinctive blue and white signs with the image of a buck. Our replica of these signs is made using the same specifications used by the Texas Department of Transportation and the Historical Commission to create the original signs. The fonts used for the text, the deer’s silhouette, and the sizes and layout of both are all just like the signs you’ll see out on the road. In fact, it’s just like having the real thing—except without the risk of an unfortunate run-in with the Texas Rangers!

Our Texas Hill Country Trail sign is printed on heavy 14-gauge steel. Our version is non-reflective, making it an attractive indoor display piece. But it’s rugged enough to be set up out in the harsh Texas sun and rain for years to come. We offer it in the same 42-inch × 24-inch size you’ll find out on the roads of the Hill Country. You can also get it in one of our convenient scaled-down versions, as small as 14 in. × 8 in., or our colossal 63 in. × 36 in. size. No matter which size you choose, we’ve included two mounting holes to make hanging it up easy as pie. (Looking for another Texas road sign, or one from another state? Or maybe this sign in a size not shown here? We can help! Just contact Jake to place your custom order.)
