If you’ve ever been to the U.S. state of Florida, you will likely have seen an alligator or two. One of the two extant varieties of alligator, the American Alligator, has flourished in the southeastern U.S., including Florida. So when the time came to build a roadway connecting the two coasts of Florida together, the American Automobile Association (AAA) speculated that the road would be of more use to the Florida alligators as an alleyway than to the more humanoid residents of the state. Shortly afterwards, Florida officially adopted the “Alligator Alley” name in 1966 (replacing the initial name, the Everglades Parkway), two years before the roadway was opened to the public. As a part of I-75, the Alligator Alley section begins at a toll plaza east of Naples to I-595 and the Sawgrass Expressway in Sunrise west of Fort Lauderdale.

Our replica Alligator Alley mile marker sign is made to the exact 1968 Florida state standards for the signs posted along this famous road at each of its 78 miles.  We have recreated this sign in painstaking detail for your enjoyment. Every element of the sign, from the graphic to the font to the text sizes, is exactly how it would have appeared along this road in the 1960s. The marker for mile 69 is shown here, but we will happily make one with any number of your choice. (Just tell us which number you’d like in the order notes at checkout!) Please note, this replica sign is non-reflective and intended for display purposes only. Rest assured, our signs look fantastic (usually even better than reflective signs) in most lighting. Our Alligator Alley sign is flat-printed on heavy 14-gauge steel. It’s tough enough to easily endure the elements outdoors, while looking great indoors as well. Choose the size that works best for you: 9 in. × 12 in., 15 in. × 20 in., 21 in. × 28 in., or 30 in. × 40 in. Two mounting holes are pre-drilled for easy installation.
