US Route 2 is the longest US Route, and among the longest highways in, the state of Montana. It crosses the state from east to west across its widest part, running just south of the Canadian border. In all, it runs for 667 miles (1073 km) from North Dakota to Idaho. Despite this impressive length, however, most of the route passes through wide-open spaces and small towns. The largest cities it serves are Kalispell, toward the western end of the state, and Havre, which is about midway along the route. Along the way, it provides access to many of the gems Montana has to offer, including Glacier National Park and the Going-to-the-Sun Road.
