Description

The Wisconsin legislature created the Rustic Road system in 1973. This road system is made up of roads that are lightly traveled, provide views of “outstanding natural features”, and junction with a major highway on both ends. These roads are signed with a larger Rustic Road sign showing the outline of Wisconsin, with a smaller route number plaque beneath the main sign.

Our Rustic Road route number sign is a recreation of these smaller route number plaques. It is based on the WisDOT MR4-53 standards, dated February 13, 2023. We’ve modified the standard slightly, squaring the corners off to better match our 1973-style Rustic Road sign. Build your own route assembly by pairing a Rustic Road sign with one of these route number plaques. Just match the width of the the two signs. Then, please specify the route number you would like in the “order notes” box when checking out.

Our Rustic Road route number sign is printed on heavy 14-gauge steel. It has a glossy, non-reflective finish, which allows it to stand up to the elements outdoors, while still looking great indoors, too. It comes with pre-drilled holes to make installation easy. Choose from the following sizes:

  • 12 in. × 6 in. (for use with 12 in. × 12 in. Rustic Road signs)
  • 18 in. × 9 in. (for use with 18 in. × 18 in. Rustic Road signs)
  • 24 in. × 12 in. (for use with 24 in. × 24 in. Rustic Road signs)
  • 36 in. × 18 in. (for use with 36 in. × 36 in. Rustic Road signs)

We can make just about any route marker from Wisconsin, or pretty much any other jurisdiction on Earth! We also offer directional signs, city limit signs, state welcome signs, and more!
