Description
Few highways have earned the legendary reputation of US Route 666, originally numbered as the sixth branch of the famous Route 66. Over time, its biblical association with the number 666, combined with the challenging terrain and high accident rate, earned it the notorious nickname “The Devil’s Highway.” Following the decommissioning of Route 66 and years of persistent sign theft, officials renumbered the highway as US 491 in 2003, making the original Utah US Route 666 signs even more memorable to collectors and road history enthusiasts.
Own a piece of American highway history with one of our Utah US Route 666 signs. Choose from two historically accurate versions of this famous highway shield: the original 1926 federal design used until around 1950, or Utah’s distinctive 1950–1961 design, featuring the state’s unique custom font that appeared nowhere else in the country. Original examples of either design rarely become available and can command extraordinary prices, making these reproductions an outstanding way to celebrate this famous highway.
Our Utah US Route 666 signs are precision printed on heavy 14-gauge steel with accurate layouts, proportions, and period-correct fonts. Each sign is made for lasting durability and proudly made in the USA with exceptional craftsmanship. Mounting holes are included to make installation easy. Choose from the following sizes:
- 12⅜ in. × 12 in.
- 16½ in. × 16 in. (the actual size of US route signs prior to 1961)
- 24¾ in. × 24 in.
- 37⅛ in. × 36 in.
