Description
Of the eight states the famous Route 66 passes through on its journey from Chicago to Los Angeles, it spends the least amount of time in Kansas. The route clips the far southeastern corner of the state en route from Joplin, Missouri to Miami, Oklahoma. Along the way, it passes through only two towns: Galena and Baxter Springs. In the 1950s, Oklahoma built the Will Rogers Turnpike to bypass the route of Route 66 in northeast Oklahoma. Its eastern end was at the state line with Missouri, not Kansas, so when Interstate 44 was built through Missouri, Kansas was entirely bypassed. These days, the old route of US-66 in Kansas is signed as K-66, US Route 69 Alternate, and a short snippet of US 400.
Bring history home with a Kansas US Route 66 sign crafted to match the original 1926 federal standard, used in the state through 1951. Our sign delivers precise layout, period-correct fonts, and faithful proportions that capture the look of the Mother Road at its peak. Upgrade your collection with a piece that stands up to close inspection and commands attention on any wall.
Skip the low-cost replicas that cut corners on materials and design. Our Kansas US Route 66 sign is flat printed on solid 14-gauge steel with exacting detail—no flimsy metal, no incorrect typography, no off-kilter shapes. You get a display piece that looks right from across the room and even better up close. Add it to your garage, office, or game room and make a statement that reflects your standards.
Kansas held the shortest stretch of Route 66—just over 13 miles (21 km)—making original signs extraordinarily rare and, when they surface, often priced even higher than Route 66 signs from the other states. With our sign, you can enjoy the visual impact of a museum-quality reproduction without paying a collector’s premium. It is durable enough to be displayed indoors or outdoors, with a high-gloss, non-retroreflective finish that will be at home in any space. Mounting holes are included to make installation easy. Choose from the following sizes:
- 12⅜ in. × 12 in. (for those seeking an economical display piece)
- 16½ in. × 16 in. (the actual size of original signs of this design)
- 24¾ in. × 24 in. (the size modern equivalents to this sign are made in)
- 37⅛ in. × 36 in. (a modern size, used along high-speed roads, which really makes a statement!)
